Dr. Karen Erickson is the David E. and Dolores Yoder Distinguished Professor of Literacy and Disability Studies in the Division of Speech and Hearing Sciences. She is also the director of the Center for Literacy and Disability Studies. Dr.Erickson is a former special education teacher. Over the past decade, her team has done exciting work focused on communication, literacy, and academic instruction and assessment for students with significant disabilities. Dr. Erickson is part of the Dynamic Maps Alternate Assessment Consortium and Project Core. She continues to work directly with teachers, therapists, and students with significant disabilities as often as possible, including during intensive summer camps, such as Camp ALEC.
